Why you should save energy

why it is necessary to save electricity

Is it worth saving energy if "everything is fine"?There are huge reserves of oil and gas, large hydroelectric plants and many nuclear reactors. Is that really not enough? It's enough, but you still need to save, because...

The International Day of Energy Saving was established relatively recently, on November 11, 2008. The initiator of the holiday was the environmental network "School Project on the Use of Resources and Energy".

It seems that the children have come up with a holiday for themselves, let them have fun, the adults don't care about it.In fact, the holiday was not invented by children, but by adults and responsible people who care about the fate of humanity and the planet.

Unfortunately, not everyone sees the need to save energy, so it is very important that the initiator of Energy Saving Day was a school project. If children understand why they save energy, then in the future they will not have to convince adults about the importance of taking care of resources.

And yet - why? What does saving energy give us?

1. Money

Everything is simple with money. We use less energy - we pay less for it.Maybe someone will make a scornful face: "Here, counting meager quantities!"But this is only one of the benefits of saving energy.

2. Comfort

A significant part of energy consumption is spent on maintaining a comfortable temperature at home and in the office. In winter - for heating, in summer - for air conditioning.

A properly configured climate system not only uses energy efficiently, but also maintains a pleasant "weather in the house".No one freezes in the winter, no one suffocates in the summer.

3. Nature

The share of "green" renewable sources in global energy production is constantly increasing. But the amounts of "clean" energy will not soon be equal to those we get from burning gas, coal and petroleum products.

By burning hydrocarbons, we release a huge amount of substances harmful to all living things into the atmosphere, from which not only we suffer, but also our animals, rivers, forests and lakes.

The less energy we use, the less dirt gets into nature, the better our health, the more lush our forests and the cleaner our waters. As often as possible, our children will be able to see a rabbit, stork or doe not through the bars of a zoo, but on a forest path, outside the window of a train or a car.

4. Air conditioning

Not a day goes by without the media reporting on a new hurricane, catastrophic heat wave, flood or drought.Scientists blame it on global warming and link it to an increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the planet's atmosphere.

One of the strongest pollutants of the atmosphere with carbon dioxide is energy.By reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, we can stop negative climate processes.

Let the skeptics claim that nothing has really been proven, that it is possible that the increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases is not the cause, but the effect of warming. Is that a reason to refuse something that can harm our planet? Is it too dangerous to wait for reliable confirmation?Who will wait for them and who will need them if the point of no return is crossed?Certainly not us and not us.

5. Economy and technology

The lower the energy costs for production, the lower its price, the higher the competitiveness of our goods, the more efficient the economy.

Efficient energy consumption stimulates scientific thought and the development of modern technologies.Does anyone remember when American cars stopped pumping gas on the highways? After the first energy crisis in 1973.

The latest technologies provide technological leadership, make products even more competitive and increase the country's economic and military security.

6. Children

We all work, have fun, argue about politics and race up the career ladder. But we live for the sake of our children, don't we?

The less we use the planet's resources, the more will be left for our children and grandchildren.Isn't it worth saving energy just for this?
